I’m Aly and I started The Co-op Kitchen as a record of what I cook for my four person “faux-op” in Brooklyn, NY. You’ll find recipes, food writing, with some sides of journalism and graphics. I’m inspired by slow food, the Midwest (where I’m from), Jerusalem (where I’ve never been), and the practice of mise en place, the assemblage of ingredients before they’re transformed by cooking.
I envision a world better-linked to farms and the vital materials that swim around and beneath us, in the ground, in the air, in pot that simmers on the stove. Cooking is one way that brings the vision to life.
